Student Activities

Achievement Day/Ribbon Festival
This fun performance opportunity is open to ALL students of every level.  This event occurs each fall and can be used to prepare for Spring competitive events.

American Composers Concert

This event features multiple recitals to accommodate all students of GJMTA teachers who want to perform a work written by an American composer.  This event is held in April.

Festival for Creative Pianists

Held each June in Denver, CO.  Students play up to 15 minutes of whatever music they like for solo or duet piano.  Prizes are awarded in several different categories. This festival is for any piano student 18 years or younger at all level.  The focus of the festival is a positive, enriching educational experience.  The judges have warm, encouraging personalities and give the participant great feedback.For more information go to the website listed above.

Musical Gala

The Musical Gala is held in mid-March.  It is an adult only recital and gathering with wine and hor d'oeuvres.  Any Adult over 21 years of age is invited to come and share their talent at this event.  Contact gjmta.org for more details.

Performers’ Choice

This event is held in alternate years in late February or early March at Colorado Mesa University.  Students are give 15 minutes to perform pieces of their choice.  Judges provide constructive feedback.

Solo and Ensemble

This event, held in conjunction with Sonatina Festival, is open to students at any level and on any instrument.  Students prepare a solo or ensemble piece to be critiqued by a judge who provides constructive feedback.

 


Sonatina Festival
Premier competitive event for piano students on the Western Slope.  This event held every other year in late February or early March at Colorado Mesa University challenges students from beginning to advanced to prepare for high quality performance.
